4/27/06: Faster Paces has found a great new home! Thank you!Hi there...passing this on by request: Faster Paces (love the name!) is a very sweet 3-year-old OTTB gelding. He is a pretty chestnut and already 16 hands, with potential to grow. His current trainer claimed him while he was racing in Florida, and unfortunately for her AND him, he came out of that race with soreness in one knee. X-rays revealed a chip on the rim of the bone (given its isolated location, it would be easily removable with surgery if someone wanted to make that investment). The vet who took the X-rays feels that Faster should be fine for pleasure riding on the flat, even without the surgery, with some time off - he is completely pasture sound now - and he has the potential to be a performance horse (including jumping) if the chip is surgically removed. Faster Paces has not been ridden away from the track, but the trainer says he is a total sweetheart on the ground. He has already had a couple of months off, as the owners were hoping he would come sound enough to race again. However, now that the vet has told them he will only be racing sound again if the chip is surgically removed, they have decided that placing him in a non-racing home is the best option. Faster's trainer is doing all she can to try to find a good home for him, but the owners do want him moved ASAP. He is on the farm in Fairhill, MD. Please contact Sherene at sherene@gate.net or 954-658-4748 for more information. She is happy to send photos to anyone interested (she is down in FL now, but is going to send me a picture when she gets back next week, and I'll post it here when I receive it).
