There are several ways that the average person, with or without horse experience, can assist exracers in transitioning off of the racetrack, and spreading the word to the local horse community with just a little time, energy, devotion and a phone 1) Make a Flyer. If you are nearby a track, its quite simply to get the word out to local owners and trainers. First, come up with a flyer (or contact anybody here on the board and we can provide a template). Find numbers for the following entities and send them flyers--give them a call and let them know that you are there to help get the word out on behalf of their horses. ---Feedstores ---Veterinary offices ---Farriers ---Tack and Race supply stores ---Track management and staff. this includes the local HBPA or horsemans association and Track vets. Simply having a digital camera and some time can save dozens of horses. You CAN make a difference with very little time or money. More tips coming soon!
